The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.
Applications are now open and can shut on 15 December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should meet the following requirements:
• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a house which has a combined gross house earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.
• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined domestic revenue does not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and wish not post any evidence of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent here citizens from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.
Applicants are reminded to deliver the correct Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored of their South African ID.
NSFAS only funds people who are studying or intend to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
